Jenni said "temperature regulation is effected by RA, it takes me a long time to warm up when cold and then a long while to cool down when hot.!"

thats me definitely too......
when paul and i started going out together years ago, it was mid summer and he just couldnt BELIEVE how cold my hands were, this was years before RA appeared but ive always suffered with cold hands and feet, now i find i warm up halfway thu the night and get night sweats sometimes... just something we live with i suppose i think its the RA / predisposition? .....& i used to get chilblains when i was very young.
if i had to choose i think i would prefer to be too cold than too hot...

Ah the sweats, yes after depos and when taking oral steroids. It literally drips off my body and feel hot and clammy for weeks after having the jab. I also get them without taking steroids, but it feels different and perhaps related to my age.....

love,

Barbara

Hello everyone,
I noticed this when looking online for something else and thought this seems like something many of us might find useful...

Coolmax Temperature Balanced Bedding - protectors, duvets and pillows all using specialised fabric that keeps moisture away from the skin and allows breathability & quoted to be "especially useful if you habitually get uncomfortably hot at night". Washable and tumble dry.

Available from Scotts of Stow who have some lovely shops in the beautiful market town of Stow on the Wold, also on-line / catalogue via www.scottsofstow.co.uk

Im think I'm going to save up after Christmas then plan a spring time visit to Stow on the Wold with my sister.

Hope this is useful xxx

Hi Lizzie,

I have a mattress topper similar to this.....Silent Night "Ambience".
It was £50 but well worth the money.

Yes, I am hot stuff in bed as well RollEyes

I usually have a fan going in the bedroom (much to Trevor's horror) both summer and winter and find it hard to regulate my temperature at any time. I have put it down to my joints keeping me warm and I rarely wear a coat if out I am so hot.

You're making me feel cold just talking about leaving the window open at night! I seem to have a tolerance of only 60 - 70 degrees, anything below or above that I find very uncomfortable. Just before I was dx with RA, I noticed my hands went blue, one day in August. Sometimes I get really hot, but at the moment, I'm finding it difficult to keep warm. My fingers keep going numb with cold. I just can't wait to get into bed with a hot water bottle.

It looks like we're having a good dollop of snow right now, John has gone out, I hope he gets back ok. Our side roads are covered, but the main road is ok.

Same here, Lyn. Side roads awful but main roads clear. We're going to Leeds on Tuesday so I just hope and pray it's OK to go!

Hi Mary,

Funny you mention a fan as we have one in the room as Mark gets overheated in the summer...and he suggested I have the fan on for 10 mins every night..

The window is open every night now and has helped slightly but I am still boiling and my hair is ringlets now ever morning!

Still worrying about it though...I have had three large doses of steroid in five months too, so perhaps this may be the demon.

Much love...going to have a quick read then back to my HUBBY! (and chocs!) LOLOL

Razz Me i hate the cold i am always cold really cold

some of its the scleroderma as you get raynaunds with it .
i cure the promlem of temp change as my hand s and feet go white .
even in the house and other people houses sometimes are not warm enough for me to sit in them for long .
so cure the promlem with wearing a vest teeshirt 2 jumpers and you can still look good if you get it right .
one short pair of socks one long pair of socks long johns and jeans and sheepskin slipper boots and sheepskin clelt boots ( like ugg ) feather and down jacket hat 2 pairs of gloves .
my fav is a track suit that is so old its a size 12 .And i don,t care i can,t be cold and uncomforble .

my other trick is excise then i am hot but just strip off a layer getting the hovver or iorning out is a other warm up trick .Tonight with friends we took Emliy home she was wearing thin trousers and moaning .
fashon is not the word in -5c .
hot water bottles and a husband in the bed and i hate socks on in bed but had them on the last few days
and maybe a woolie jumper on in bed if going gets tough but usealy extra hot water bottle .

we have 6 to 8 inchs of snow here .This is not the case in Norwich so my Son says was shocked on how much snow we have .And we have a snow drift by the back gate Blink
